17:30 is worse. I was wrong.

It doesn’t help that people got on at Bethnal Green. Nobody ever gets on at Bethnal Green. It was bad enough at Bank but now I can’t see further than a few inches in front of my own face. It’s like a fog, but a fog of people. I couldn’t lift my own hand to see if it was still there even if I wanted to.

Faces and arms clamouring for a sliver of pole to grip onto. They don’t need it of course, we’re so tightly packed in that’ll you’ll never fall over. Everyone has had enough with Monday, they’ve not even gone down the pub.

As the Essex suburbs get ever closer, tensions are lifting as people get nearer to their dinner.

It’s time.

Possibly the worst time to be on the tube. How do I know? Because this chap’s watch reads 8:30. It looks like a Monday. It feels like a Monday.

I’m a shift working so I don’t have to put up with you lot most of the time. But when I do I always wonder how you manage it everyday. But even more so on Mondays…

Maybe if I stare into the distance you won’t notice I’m not a regular rush hour commuter. They’ve already spotted I’m not in a suit…. I don’t think they like it…

Lost Triangular Stations: Ambergate

Even before the closure of Queensbury and the reduction in size of Ambergate and Bishop Auckland, the triangular platform layout is a rarity not just in Britain but Globally. These days only Shipley and Earlestown survive with platforms on all 3 chords of a triangular junctions. So what happened to the other examples? Edward has been discovering Ambergate’s lost triangle.
