In fact I nip downstairs at this point as this is one of the few Leslie Green stations to exhibit original tiling, nicely preserved within the overall renovation.

The station was opened in 1907 as Euston Road but this was quickly changed a year after to avoid confusion with nearby Euston. At the same time nearby Gower Street on the Metropolitan Line gained it’s modern name Euston Square.
